The stoppage of US military aid is being called a blessing in disguise by some. It is true that our reliance on foreign aid is the root of much of our problems but we cannot deny the fact that we are a country a penny away from fiscal collapse. We can barely set our house in order without aid, let alone foot the bill of our military outings.
US aid comes with many strings attached but it funds our deficit and a lot of humanitarian work as well. Sovereignty can’t pay the bills. Indeed, it is a dilemma. Can’t live with US aid, can’t live without.
