Pakistan offers 1m acres to Japan for SEZ

Pakistan has offered 1 million acres of government land in Sindh to Japan for setting up a special economic zone (SEZ) for Japanese investors. Board of Investment (BOI) Chairman Saleem H. Mandviwalla made this offer to the Japanese ambassador Hiroshi Oe during a meeting to discuss the investment related issues.
Chairman BOI proposed setting up of a Japan specific special economic zone in Sindh where 1 million acres of government land was available for the proposed SEZ. The location is directly accessible from Port Qasim, which would enable raw material import and finished goods export without incurring major inland transportation costs.
He informed the envoy that land was already allocated to Yamaha near Port Qasim. Yamaha is investing $150 million in the automobile sector. A special incentive plan is devised to promote the advanced motorbike industry for the bourgeois.
