Expressing his satisfaction over the performance of the provincial government, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Minister Mian Iftikhar Hussain Tuesday said it had made tremendous achievements in the last three years.
“Amidst serious challenges and threats, the government has not only resolved the decades old issue of constitutional reforms but also succeeded in dismantling the militant’s network,” Iftikhar said while addressing a roundtable conference here at the Peshawar Press Club on Wednesday.
The moot was organised by the Free and Fair Election Network (FAFEN) and United Rural Development Organisation (URDO) in connection with the launching of its three-year “Supporting Transparency, Accountability and Electoral Process in Pakistan Project. The project is being assisted by the UK’s International Development Fund (DFID) and Kingdom of the Netherlands.
The provincial information minister appreciated the organisers for arranging the roundtable, which he said enabled the two sides to discuss performance, achievements and failures of the government.
“No one can deny corruption, malpractices and irregularities of the government functionaries but there is no justification to blame only the present government for it. One should rather appreciate our resolve towards controlling the corruption”, he observed He said that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government established a totally autonomous institution of the Ombudsman in the province and the accountability process was made essential for all the government institutions through 18th Amendment.
Earlier Mr Zaheer Khattak of URDO and FAFEN’s Rashid Abdullah had highlighted various features of the report pertaining to monitoring evaluation and accountability of different government departments including performances of the parliamentarians.
The presentation given by FAFEN representative was really informative, FAFEN is doing wonderful efforts..
