Karachi suffers Rs 2 billion losses in two days

The Korangi Industrial Area (KIA) has suffered production and monetary losses of Rs 2 billion in the two days strife going on in Karachi, Korangi Association of Trade and Industry (KATI) chairman said on Thursday.
Besides KATI chief, its Patron In-Chief S M Muneer and former chairman Mian Zahid Husain have appealed to the politicians to show resilience and sit together to resolve the issues amicably so that the economy should not suffer.
They said that the industries were unable to meet the export orders due to massive losses and added that frequent closure of industry might result in permanent shut down of many units.
They further said the government should formulate code of conduct so that mud-slinging on each other might not be repeated in future.
They appealed to the government to take up the issues seriously, prevent lawlessness and restore peace in the financial capital of the country otherwise the economy of the entire country would be crippled.
