Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani has said that the US-Pak relations were based on mutual respect and interests, however, the recent statements regarding military aid suspension were a matter of concern for Pakistan and its people. Gilani said this in response to a question during a press conference following the federal cabinet’s meeting at the Balochistan Chief Minister’s Secretariat on Wednesday. The prime minister said as far as US aid was concern, the government had concern in this regard as Pakistan was in the middle of fighting terrorism and extremism. Without naming the US, he said any policy made for reconciliation in Afghanistan should have Pakistan on board, as some policy might destabilise Pakistan. Asked about contacts with angry Baloch leaders, Gilani said his government was committed to bringing the angry Baloch leaders to the negotiating table, as his government had already withdrawn cases against all political leaders and ordered their release, adding that he could safely say that there was no political prisoner in Balochistan at present.
