With the reshuffling of the federal cabinet just a matter of days now, PML-Q leader Pervaiz Elahi is likely to get the Ministry Of Commerce. Currently Elahi is the minister industries and defence production. Sources revealed that the PML-Q leader was quitting Defence Production and in lieu he would be given the Commerce Ministry.
He would also retain the charge of the Industries Department Sources said the cabinet reshuffle was likely to take place within a few days in which portfolios of various ministers were expected to be changed. However, it is still not clear how the PPP plans to deal with incumbent Commerce Minister Amin Fahim if Elahi is offered the commerce portfolio, and how what will happen if the senior PPP leader resists the move.
In the expected changes in the cabinet, the biggest gain is likely to be made by Hina Rabbani Khar whom the government is likely to elevate as foreign minister. She is expected to lead the Pakistani delegation to India per reports. Recently, she has emerged as a close aide of the prime minister The reshuffle will provide an opportunity to the government to fill the cabinet slots left by MQM leaders.
