Man gunned down in Kot Lakhpat

A man was shot dead and another seriously injured over an old enmity in the Kot Lakhpat Police Station precincts on Tuesday. The victim was identified as Fahim Arif, a resident of Gulistan Colony, Chungi Amar Sidhu.
According to police, Fahim along with his friend Qasim, was sitting at office of Shan Cable Network when two accused identified as Usman Khan and Waqar came there and opened indiscriminate fire at them and fled. As a result, both were critically injured and rushed to a nearby hospital where Fahim succumbed to his injuries. The body was shifted to the city morgue for autopsy.
The Kot Lakhpat Police have registered a case against the two accused on complaint of the victim’s brother Kashif Ali but failed to arrest any accused so far. Separately, a 75-year-old man was stabbed to death by unidentified men due to unknown reasons and his body was found from Bund Road near Bobby Plaza in the Lower Mall Police Station precincts.
The deceased was identified as Riaz. Police said that body of the deceased was found from Bund Road at around 7:30am when some passer-by spotted it and informed police. Police reached the spot and shifted the body to the city morgue. Police said that the man was killed with a sharp-edged weapon, as bruises were seen on his body. According to police, the motive behind the killing would be ascertained after investigation.
Also on Tuesday, police registered a case against unidentified killers on complaint of Mudassar. The accused were still at large while police have started a manhunt for them. A 56-year-old man was clubbed to death by unidentified men near Upper Mall in the Racecourse Police Station precincts. The victim was identified as Ghulam Hussain, a resident of A-Block Upper Mall. The deceased hailed from Sargodha.
According to police, the deceased was living in a rented room. On Tuesday morning, when Ghulam did not come out of his room, owner of the house Aslam broke open the door and found the deceased’s body was lying dead on his bed. Police removed the body to the city morgue for autopsy.
Lahore Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Ahmed Raza Tahir ordered officers to make the process of detection of crimes more effective. The CCPO said that the Lahore Police are working vigorously for maintenance of law and order in the city. He noted that, for the first time in history of the Lahore Police, in two separate events, a total number of 500 stolen vehicles and motorcycles were returned to their rightful owners.
