Lahore Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Ahmad Raza Tahir on Wednesday ordered to launch a vigorous campaign against fireworks manufactures and its traders, on the sacred occasion of Shab-e-Baraat. The CCPO also directed stern action against elements indulging in aerial firing, for which special teams have been formed.
Tahir directed the deputy inspector general (DIG) Operations, divisional superintendents of police (SP), supervisory police officers and station house officers (SHO) to take prompt action against stockiest and sellers of fireworks by raiding their godowns and forfeiting illegal goods. The CCPO also ordered taking stern action against use of fireworks on weddings and other functions.
He directed officers to keep a vigilant eye on aerial firing on weddings, particularly outside wedding halls. Tahir warned that if any incident of fireworks or aerial firing took place, the SHO concerned would face departmental action while SPOs would also be held accountable. All SPs concerned would be responsible for ensuring comprehensive implementation of these orders, the CCPO said.
