Karachi bleeds again

Around nine dozen people, including a five-year old innocent girl, have been killed in the recent wave of violence in Karachi.

District, provincial and federal governments have not yet taken any concrete step to stop the terrorists who have killed dozens mercilessly and without any fear. One of the newspaper reports said that the police were ready for action, but they did nothing because they had no orders to control the situation.

The country’s biggest city and financial capital is under fire, but those who are at the helm of affairs are careless about the situation.

Though President Asif Ali Zardari has chaired a high level meeting to address the issue, but everyone knows what will happen next.

Interior Minister Rehman Malik is one of those ‘tools’ in the hands of the present government who are considered a panacea for every problem, so whenever there is a law and order situation anywhere across the country, he visits the place and soon after that everything is ‘under-control’.

It seems that Karachi is a jungle where beasts are killings human beings for the thirst of blood. No one from the ruling lot or ‘opposing elite’ is interested to stop this brutality, because none of them has lost any of their loved ones due to this violence.

If the government is serious enough to control the Karachi situation, it can do so within a short span of time, but politics is a game of personal interests and politicians always do whatever is beneficial to them, no matter how grave the situation is.
