Development schemes approved for the personal benefit of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Member Provincial Assembly (MPA) Dr Ahmed Ali Shah have incurred losses of at least Rs 5 million to the exchequer, Pakistan Today has learnt.
Sources said that the PPP MPA of Naushero Feroze district used his influence and approved two road and irrigation schemes, which are illegal according to the rules as Shah had approved them for his temporary personal benefit.
The road scheme was approved in the current provincial Annual Development Programme on Shah’s recommendation for the road that leads to Khokhar village from New Manjhuth village.
Khokhar village is situated in the kutcha area, and this scheme cost Rs 4 million. However, this road actually leads to the personal forest lands of the MPA.
Another scheme was approved for irrigating regulator in the same area, and this scheme cost Rs 1 million.
According to the rules, no scheme could be approved in the kutcha area because the area is the route for floodwater, and these schemes could cause damages.
The MPA had appointed a junior officer of grade 11, Sub Engineer Abdul Hadi Memon, in the Works and Services Department on the position of Assistant Engineer to assist him in these illegal schemes.
