Condemning police torture on city’s vegetable market traders, Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) Punjab General Secretary Chaudhary Zaheeruddin on Monday alleged that the brutality was launched against the traders on the directives of Punjab chief minister.
While talking to party workers and leaders, Zaheer said the vegetable market traders’ incident was the second episode after Mianwali in which the provincial government had only ordered the police to use force against the protestors and register fake cases against them. The PML-Q leader demanded immediate withdrawal of cases against the vegetable market traders and release of the detained Mianwali citizens.
He alleged that the provincial government wanted to solve problems using force instead of dialogue and this approach had turned the province into a police state.
