This is with reference to Anwar Pasha’s comments on poor service aboard a PIA flight to London. On a recent domestic flight, while going through Humsafar, the in-flight magazine, PIA has announced their plans to set up an FM radio station.
The magazine proudly claims that PIA will be amongst the first airlines to run a radio station. It would be far better that PIA instead of running Flight Training Academy at Nawabshah, or a radio station focus their attention to running this airline, which of late is in the news for all the wrong reasons, be they pilferage in technical spares procurement, appointment of cronies or executives behaving like clowns and dancing with whiskey glasses balanced on their heads.
It has accumulated losses to the tune of over Rs 100 billion in just the last four years. Economy drive measures have slashed hot meals served on domestic flights, but salaries are being raised and the top heavy management is becoming heavier with incompetent cronies drawing huge salaries, while flight schedules cannot be maintained.
Instead of adopting aggressive marketing strategy, this section has had either a former controversial clearing agent heading it and than replaced by a technician instead of qualified marketing executives.
