Defence Minister Chaudhry Ahmad Mukhtar has said that Pakistan will pull troops back from the Pak-Afghan border in reaction to the suspension of nearly $800 million US military aid.
While talking to a private television channel, Mukhtar said that Pakistan would pull back troops from nearly 1,100 check posts set up along the Pak-Afghan border.
He further said that $300 million of this aid were for the troops serving in the troubled region and added that this move would sabotage efforts against the Taliban and al Qaeda.
He said that Pakistan could not afford to keep its military out in the mountains or in the border areas for a long period of time and added that the next step would be that the government or the armed forces would pull back the forces from the border areas.
He further said the government had also asked American military trainers to leave the country because they were seen to be connected with Raymond Davis.

  1. Maybe instead of giving alms to pakis, US should just build a wall around pak and make sure all pakis stay inside. Then there will be total peace in that region.

  2. Dear Fellow Readers,

Please refrain from passing hurtful comments on each other. Pakistan Today is a very decent paper.

This paper provides us the opportunity to express our opinions and allows these to appear on its website so that it has an international reach. However, I must say that there appear to be a particular thinking operational behind comments on Pakistan's internal security. To me they appear to be unfair and ill intentioned. This leaves a big question mark about the very people who make these cavalier comments.

I must also add that these regulars do not make any suggestions for improvement in other social problems, problems unrelated to the prevailing war like conditions, confronting Pakistan.

I will be grateful if my polite suggestion is heeded.

    Kind regards

    Truly yours
