MQM deputy convener briefing not based on facts, says SHC

The Sindh High Court (SHC) has strongly denied the allegations by the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) regarding the meeting between SHC Chief Justice Mushir Alam and Senior Sindh Minister Dr Zulfiqar Mirza, a statement said on Monday. The statement followed the press briefing of MQM Deputy Convenor Anis Qaimkhani Advocate on Sunday night.
In the press briefing, Qaimkhani had alleged that Mirza had met with Alam to get favours in Mohajir Qaumi Movement-Haqiqi head Afaq Ahmed’s court cases. Qaimkhani had hinted that Mirza was pulling strings for the immediate release of Ahmed. The MQM leader also accused Mirza and Ahmed of planning an attack on MQM headquarters Nine Zero.
The SHC’s official statement maintained that the contents of the MQM press conference regarding the meeting were fabricated and misleading. The High Court vehemently stated that no such meeting, as alleged by Qaimkhani, had ever taken place.
