Health department to initiate anti-mosquito campaign

Directing the Health Department officials to launch an anti-mosquito and fogging campaign, Punjab Health Secretary Mohammad Jehanzeb Khan said that the campaign should be directly monitored by the district coordination officers (DCOs).
He was presiding over a meeting to review the performance of District Headquarters (DHQ) and Tehsil Headquarters (THQ) hospitals and Rural Health Centres (RHCs) of Multan in his office.
Special Health Secretary Wasim Mukhtar, Health Director General Punjab Dr Aslam Chaudhry and senior officers of the department were also present. EDO Health Multan Dr Inam-ul-Haq briefed the meeting on the performance of the hospitals and the arrangements for anti-mosquito spray and the polio campaign. Khan said all selections were made on the basis of merit and slackers would have to face the music.
He directed that health education programme should be given a priority for creating awareness of the preventive measures of diseases which will help save huge expenses. He said anti-polio campaign should be a public festival and the influential segment of the society should be invited. He said that media as well as imams of mosques, clerics and spiritual leaders, social workers, political leaders and the notables of the society could play an effective role and creating a polio free society is the top priority of the Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif. No ignorance will be tolerated on the part of the officers, he concluded.
