‘PPP can’t even think of attacking Nine Zero’

Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Secretary General Jahangir Badr on Monday said his party could not even think of planning an attack on Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) headquarters Nine Zero, as it was against its philosophy of reconciliation.
Addressing a press conference at the National Press Club, Badr said the PPP believed in reconciliation and had not shut he doors of reconciliation on the MQM.
He said his party wanted political solution to the unrest in Karachi instead of taking administrative resolution, which could backfire. He said all political parties would have to play their role for peace in Karachi.
Flanked by former AJK prime minister Barrister Sultan Mehmood Chaudhry, PPP AJK President Chaudhry Abdul Majeed and others, Badr dodged questions on possible disciplinary action against former foreign minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi, saying the party’s Punjab chapter had taken notice of his activities against party policy.
Badr said the PML-N was forming a grand alliance to safeguard and promote its own political interests, which was against the spirit of Charter of Democracy (CoD) as well as democratic norms.
Lashing out at the PLM-N, the PPP leader said the issue of fake ballot papers in bye-election of Samahni, AJK, was a mockery of the CoD. He said such practices were distorting democracy in Pakistan, adding that if any leader thought he could win an election through such practices, he should review his stance.
