The recent attack on members of the media by armed gunmen of a Sindh minister should be condemned by all democracy-loving individuals who believe in the rule of law.
The rogue and irrational behaviour of the already controversial Zulfiqar Mirza would only give strength to the US government’s allegation that our government was involved in murder of Saleem Shahzad. This irresponsible act will further dent the credibility of Sindh government, which has failed to perform its primary constitutional obligation to protect lives and property of citizens of Karachi.
It is time that political maturity is enforced by the ruling party on its members, who should learn some democratic norms and behaviour becoming of members of a ruling party. Political power is not eternal and they should know that what goes around, comes around.
The concerned minister has just returned from US after vacationing and must have witnessed how the rule of law prevails in a democratic society, where all citizens are considered equal by the law. Had this been done by a minister in USA, he would have been behind bars by now.
