Limping Karachi

The past four days have witnessed severe bloodshed in Karachi and no government institution was there to rescue the citizens of that ill-fated city.

During these four days of ‘mini civil war’, more than hundred people were killed by faceless killers. Interior Minister Rehman Malik has claimed that the police and Rangers have arrested some 87 people and all of them have been involved in the recent wave of violence. Now, only the Almighty knows what will happen to those ‘terrorists’ in the days to come.

There are some serious questions which need to be answered for a long term peace process in Karachi. It is yet to be answered by the district, provincial and federal governments as to why they didn’t take any concrete action during the four days of brutal carnage.

Unfortunately, it seems that the political parties are also unconcerned about peace in the city as they just kept on blaming each other for the situation.

The parties and their leadership owe a lot to this country and its people, so it is a national as well as social responsibility of the political leadership to come up with solutions for durable peace in Karachi.
