Govt to give Rs 2.2b subsidy in Ramadan

The government has decided to grant a Rs 2.2 billion subsidy to consumers at state owned utility stores during Ramadan, Minister for Industries Pervaiz Elahi informed on Monday. Details of the Ramadan package were finalised at a meeting, presided by Pervaiz Elahi and attended by the PML (Q) chief Shujat Hussain.
The minister directed the Utility Stores Corporation (USC) to provide maximum relief on commodities of daily use during the holy month so that the people can benefit from this incentive.
He directed the USC management to ensure that its stores stay open for extended hours during Ramadan. Moreover, the minister said strict action will be taken against those who do not follow the finalised price list.
