Pakistan Today

An injustice

Using very strong language I am constrained to say that over the years, Pakistan has become a death bed of merit. This is my personal experience and observation.

I joined the Police Service of Pakistan in 1973 as Assistant Superintendent of Police and retired as Additional IG Balochistan, serving under an officer who was junior to me in inter-se-seniority, (as Civil Servant Probationer, ASP, SP, SSP and DIG). He is a polite person otherwise. I was denied BS 21 in 2002 and following years until I retired in 2008.

President General Musharraf and Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz were averse to integrity in the Civil Services. They introduced the concept of BOB, sacrificing the time honoured principle of seniority-cum-fitness to oblige their cronies. Everything was under their thumb and they used them to benefit their friends. My promotion case was frozen in BS 20 from 1992 to 2008, a record in the PSP. They hurt me deeply and I suffer from the pain even today. The PM Mr Shaukat Aziz got plots in the prestigious Housing Scheme of the National Police Foundation in E-11, whereas my application was turned down by the corrupt management. Secretary Interior who is the Chairman of the Managing Committee of the Foundation was requested to publish the names of allottees of plots. No response. No accountability. Silence on all fronts.

I am surprised why President Secretariat and PM Secretariat are reluctant to respond to my petitions/appeals for accountability and rule of law. I have decided to fight for merit and accountability in Pakistan, no matter what happens.
