CCPO orders inquiry against SP for patronising land mafia

The Lahore Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) has directed the senior superintendent of police (SSP) Investigation to conduct an inquiry against the superintendent of police (SP) Investigation Civil Lines for allegedly patronising fraudsters.
According to sources, the CCPO issued the order in compliance of Punjab Police order, “To ensure transparent investigation on merit in FIR 1055/10 Civil Lines Police Station and allegations levelled against SP be inquired into”. According to details, the accused backed by a lobby of influential people, got money on the promise of helping the complainant buy a plot eight years ago. Instead of returning the money, he provided a bogus affidavit showing a plot in Johar Town Lahore, which later proved ghost. On intervention, he presented a cheque in the court, which was dishonoured twice.
Earlier, the accused was declared guilty on the basis of documents and evidence by the first investigation officer, who was transferred and Investigation Office Muhammad Yasin, who in compliance of the SP’s order, not only favoured the accused and spoiled the entire case but got the accused bailed out on the basis of defective investigation. The fraudster approached Additional SP (Investigation) Civil Lines Lahore Liaqat Ali Malik who exerted undue influence on his subordinate and directed him not to incorporate the complainant’s point of view or statement in the investigation.
The SP, allegedly after harassing the complainant directly threatened to compromise with the accused by supplying documents of ghost plots or else he would be involved in other case. The influential accused has also deprived several other innocent people of tens of millions of rupees by selling ghost residential plots on bogus documents including Muhammad Rashid, Muhammad Saeed, Chaudhry Hanif, Syed Noor ulHassan, Colonel Dr Abdul Salam and Muhammad Shafique and faces a number of criminal cases in different city courts.
