The anniversaries of legendary folk singers Allan Faqeer and Mai Bhagi will be celebrated by the end of the July as the country remembers them for their contributions and would continue to do so, said Sindh Culture Department Director General Muhammad Ramzan Awan. He said this while talking to journalists at his office on Saturday. The anniversaries of both folk singers would be celebrated in collaboration and cooperation of their family members. The Culture Department has not forgotten their contributions and it is a fact that the department was fully active and remembers them.
The department had approached their families to celebrate such anniversaries in a befitting manner. The Culture Department looks after the welfare of artistes, singers and remembers all events related to such dignitaries. Under the instructions of Culture Minister Sassui Palijo, such programmes are arranged by the department to recollect and remember all personalities, who have promoted the province’s culture.
Some persons are creating misunderstandings about the anniversaries of both folk singers. Awan also attended the Sindh superstar talent show organised by the Culture Department in collaboration with a private television network at the Mehran Arts Council Hyderabad. He was the chief guest in the finale of the talent show, in which many young singers, artists demonstrated their unique talents and entertained the jury through their performances. The Culture Director General appreciated the efforts of the department and the television team for providing a platform to young, emerging talents.
