President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani held a one-on-one meeting on Friday and agreed to continue efforts to woo the MQM back into the coalition government.
Sources said the prime minister met the president at the Presidency following Zardari’s return from the UK. The two leaders discussed the over all political situation in the country, target killings in Karachi, departure of the MQM from government and the subsequent developments, the resignation of Sindh governor and the possible formation of a grand opposition alliance.
The sources said both leaders agreed that the MQM’s joining of the opposition posed no threat to the government however, all efforts should be made to woo it back to the government as it was “an old friend and ally”. “Anti-state elements are busy in designing conspiracies to dismember the country and fail the democratic system and isolate the country in the world,” Zardai said, adding the government would foil all such conspiracies.
The president said the government was not worried about the formation of the opposition alliances, as alliances were always formed against strong governments. Sources said that views were also exchanged on the handing over of portfolios to the ministers affected by the devolution process.

  1. Well, the President and the PM will not give up on MQM.
For God sake Mr President just give up this childish politics. Let them sit on the opposition benches. They have been in power for more than two decades.
Longest serving Governor’s exit provides a golden opportunity to the PPP to appoint another governor. Ishrat Ebad was loyal to Nine Zero and had made phenomenal amount of money during his governorship. No wonder he is now living in Dubai with his family. A so called middle class MQM leader can live in Dubai with his family is incomprehensible.

  2. This was a perfect subject for your cartoonist. He can still do it. Sabir use your imagination and give us some laughters.

  3. URGENT ATTENTION: PRESIDENT ZARDARI AND PRIME MINISTER GALANI.
Now that you have ML-Q on your side, get country rid of politics of blackmailing, opportunism, bathakhori of MQM once for all.eversince this party was created. Country has been made a hell and opportunity for MQM to consolidate.Musharraf gave Mustafa Kamal two trillion rupees to build flyover from state exchequer while he obstructed anything Naimatullah wanted to do to please MQM who were his sworn enemy. You pampered beyond comprehension to become kingmakers and jagirdars of Pakistan, the greatest target killers, bathakhors day and night pretend saints, Vatican Popes because Karachi based TV Channels, their staff, mass dailies promote MQM as the best political party and the nonsense of against jagirdars, wadweras’ etc while for twenty years they ruled with them. You pampered them by allowing Altaf Hussein, an absconder to make almost daily live speeches from London to propagate its progranmme which even Musharraf,Choudries did not allow.ML-Q,Choudries did not let them intrude in seven long years with Musharraf In Punjab but you did for hate of Nawaz Sharif.Musharraf strengthened MQM by delimiting constituencies to their electoral suiting .(A)I would urge you to redesign constituencies of Karachi and Hyderabad and remove all engineered advantages to MQM to make it fair. (B) Ban live TV speeches of Altaf Hussein from London. Accounts should be probed of how much payment was made to TV channels to telecast live speeches of Altaf Hussein. If payment was not demanded by these TV channels then why?It should be recovered now or these TV channels,ARY,AAJ,Dunya,Express, geo,Newsone,CNBC,Samaa etc be closed.(C) Please close all TV channels who are MQM party members and free them from the fascist fear of MQM to not give 1000% live coverage to project them as the best people on earth, the predators of deaths. TV channels of Karachi, loyalist MQM toadies in TV channels must be removed to make these channels fair and balance.(D) do not chase MQM to join you. Thanks and with regards
