At least 15 mortar shells fired by the US-led allied troops from inside Afghanistan landed in the Ghulam Khan area of North Waziristan on Friday morning, but no casualties were reported. The shells hit scattered areas along the border region of Ghulam Khan, a day after five mortar shells landed in Bangi Daar in a similar fashion.
The officials said mortar shells were fired by the Afghan and US-led allied troops from inside Afghanistan. In retaliation, Pakistani security forces fired mortar shells across the border, but no casualties were reported on either side.
HAFIZ GUL BAHADAR
Separately, Taliban militants headed by Hafiz Gul Bahadar denied on Friday through a pamphlet their involvement in the attack on a security forces convoy on the main road in front of Zakeem Hospital in Miranshah, which killed three security forces personnel.
The group, which calls itself the “Shura Mujahideen”, said in the pamphlet that it was not involved in the attack but that certain elements, at the behest of the United States, were carrying out such inhuman and immoral acts.
