Lahore High Court (LHC) Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed on Friday sought a report and parawise comments from the Punjab government within two weeks on a petition challenging appointments of paramedical staff in public-sector hospitals in violation of the laid down recruitment process.
The court gave a copy of the petition to the Punjab assistant advocate general directing him to file reply with details regarding the procedure laid down for the recruitment process. The court issued the order on a petition filed by petitioner-counsel Imtiaz Elahi in which he made the Punjab health secretary, Children Hospital medical superintendent (MS), Jinnah Hospital MS, Mayo Hospital MS, Services Hospital MS, Sir Ganga Ram Hospital MS and others respondents.
The petitioner-counsel, referring to a media report, submitted that the recruitment process was initiated by the respondent hospitals to fill vacant permanent posts of paramedics and a large number of people applied for these jobs. He alleged that the Punjab government had given a list of candidates asking for appointments on the said posts against merit and without going through the recruitment process.
Separately, the Lahore High Court (LHC) transferred and posted 10 additional district and sessions judges (AD&SJ) across Punjab.
According to a notification issued by the LHC registrar, AD&SJ Muhammad Tariq was transferred from Muzaffargarh to Bahawalnagar, Nasir Ahmed from Shakargarh to Gujranwala, Malik Ali Zuqarnain Awan from Gujrat to Kharian, Syed Naveed Raza Bokarai from Depalpur to Jhang, Naseeem Ahmed Virk from Narowal to Mianwali, Imtiaz Hussain from Jaranwala to Multan, Sajjad Hussain from Sahiwal to Burewala, Malik Munir Ahmed Joiya from Bhakar to Rawalpindi, Subhan Sadaq from Gujrat to Bhakhar and Mehmoodul Hussan from Bhakkar to Gujrat. Also on Friday, 50 civil judges passed out from the Punjab Judicial Academy, Lahore from the 9 to 12 week pre-service training course of civil judges-cum-judicial magistrates and posted at various places across Punjab.
