Firdous urges all parties to develop peace plan

Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Dr. Firdous Ashiq Awan has urged all political parties and stakeholders to come together and evolve a consensus to ensure permanent peace in Karachi.
Talking to a private television news channel, Firdous said that all the political forces including Mutahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), Awami National Party (ANP), Pakistan Muslim League and stakeholders should sit together and formulate a comprehensive strategy to counter violence in the city.
Expressing her heartfelt grief and sorrow on sad incidents in different parts of the city, she said that the media, civil society, business community, law enforcing agencies and all concerned stakeholders should play their role in combating violence in Karachi so that peace and tranquility could prevail.
The minister said that the PPP government was making all out efforts to meet the challenges confronting the common man and in this regard, all important steps are being taken.
“Blame game and shifting responsibility to the incumbent regime is not the solution of the problem,” she said.
Replying to a question regarding the efforts of the government to play down the violence in Karachi, she said, a peace committee was already in place where initiatives are being taken to deweaponise the area.
The minister said that joint action needs to be taken so that the real culprits behind such criminal acts could be identified.
