Urging political parties to evolve a consensus over all national issues, former foreign minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi said on Saturday that the country is going through difficult times.
He expressed concerns over the law and order crisis in Karachi and said the government must take national issues more seriously. Referring to Nawaz Sharif’s statement on the mid-term elections, he said the government should complete its tenure, however, he believed that the situation is getting out of control. Agreeing that conspiracies were being hatched against him, he said he was not worried about his future. He said he will hold meetings with Nawaz Sharif, Imran Khan, Maulana Fazal Urrehman, Munawar Hassan and leadership of MQM in future. He said the PPP is a major political party but certain factions are evolving decisions without consulting the party.
Responding to question on Raja Riaz’s resolution, Shah Mehmood said the resolution did not reflect his thinking. He said an in house change is a constitutional matter and a majority is essential for this purpose.
