The tendency to compare Pakistan’s state of affairs with the Arab revolt is erroneous if viewed with rationality. Pakistan has a democracy and no monarchy is in reign. People carrying political mandate are sitting in parliament, our civil society is mobilised while media is enjoying its freedom which it has never enjoyed in the Arab world. Despite suffering from the wounds of war on terror and natural calamities, our institutions are working just fine.
If we keep these aspects in mind, we cannot compare it with the Arab countries which neither enjoy specific geo-political complexities nor have quite certain say in regional affairs. Thus, analysing Pakistan’s state of affairs in the prism of rationality and impartiality is important.
