A private hospital, believed to be occupied by militants in Miranshah, has been demolished, the North Waziristan administration claimed. According to officials, the hospital was demolished with explosives on Wednesday.
The militants resisted and opened fire however in retaliatory action, the attack was repulsed and five militants were shot dead. Sources said that the private hospital was owned by Dr Zakeem Wazir, a BPS 20 government employee. Dr Zakeem is the father of MNA Kamran Wazir, who is one of the staunchest critics of US drone strikes in Pakistan and the military operation in North Waziristan.
A highly placed source said the hospital owners have strong affiliation with Maulvi Alim Khan, who is a key supporter of Al Qaeda in the region.
