KESC moves NEPRA for power tariff hike

Karachi Electric Supply Company (KESC) Friday moved National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) to enhance power unit by 25 paisa.
According to a private television channel, the KESC requested for the tariffs hike under Fuel Adjustment for month of May.
According to KESC application, the company sold electricity amounting 1.449 billion units during the month of May.
The KESC burnt fuel worth Rs. 607 million on production from its own power plant. Oil consumption from the external sources cost the company an amount worth Rs.242 million.
The application noted KESC had to spend additional Rs. 365 million on power generation; accordingly, KESC’s tariffs needed a boost.
