A Lahore High Court division bench on Thursday deferred proceedings of a petition regarding cancellation of plots allotted to 28 judges in the Johar Town Housing Scheme. The bench comprising of Justice Muhammad khalid Mehmood Khan and Justice Syed Kazim Raza Shamsi is hearing the intra court appeal, which was filed by Saif-ul-Haq Ziaee in 1993.
The petitioner said allotment of plots to senior judges was unlawful as it was against rules laid down for allotment of plots in the Johar Town Housing Scheme. The petitioner argued that plots could only be allotted to officials if their family members produced an affidavit that they did not own any plot.
He said these allotments were unconstitutional as the said judges submitted a certificate instead of an affidavit wherein they lied of not having any plot, he added. The case will now be heard in September.
