Sindh Finance Minister Murad Ali Shah has said that education is one of the top priorities of the provincial government and his ministry is supporting quality education in the province.
While addressing the faculty and staff members of the Sindh Madressatul Islam (SMI) College on Thursday, the minister said that SMI is a pioneer institution of modern education; therefore, it should be promoted as a beacon of light in Sindh.
Shah further said that in this respect, a charter of Sindh Madressatul University would be passed in the forthcoming session of the Sindh Assembly.
“The Sindh government considers education key for development and prosperity, and to further this concept of the provincial government, the Sindh Madressa University will play a plausible role in promoting modern and quality education in this part of the country,” he said, adding that being the oldest and a historic institution, it has a potential to lead the nation once again towards progress through quality education.
The provincial minister said that the past glory of the Sindh Madressa would be restored and it would be made a symbol of both Sindh and Pakistan’s history for the inspiration of visiting diplomats and tourists.
Recalling his days as a student, Shah said that he still remembers appearing in the annual examination of class IX held at the Talpur House of the SMI College.
Earlier, SMI College Principal Dr Muhammad Ali Shaikh, in his brief speech, thanked Shah for paying a visit to the college by saying that his late father, Syed Abdullah Shah, had also visited the Sindh Madressa when he was Sindh’s chief minister.
