The performance of Pakistan squad to the Special Olympics in Athens must be appreciated. Cash prizes and other incentives should be given to this 82-member contingent who participated in eight sports, including athletics, aquatics, badminton, basketball, bocce, cycling, football and table tennis.
Pakistan won a total of 17 gold, 25 silver and 14 bronze medals while competing in a week-long games where 7500 athletes from 180 countries around the world participated. I hope the government, multinational companies and media will honour these heroes.
