Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani said on Tuesday that since the creation of Pakistan, democratic governments had been dismissed on baseless charges of corruption while no such charges had been levelled against dictators to oust their governments.
“The present government has no threat from corruption,” he told reporters after the inauguration of Zero Point Interchange (ZPI), Lehtrar Road dual carriageway and the ground-breaking ceremony of Park Enclave residential project.
To a question regarding suspension of Federal Investigation Agency Additional Director General Zafar Qureshi, the prime minister said that transfers and postings were a routine matter in the government.
He said that Qureshi was suspended over a disciplinary issue and an enquiry had been launched against him.
He said the government was making efforts to solve issue of gas shortage in the country immediately. The prime minister said the government wanted political stability in the country as it was mandatory for financial stability.
“No country can progress without political stability, therefore all political parties need to make efforts in this regard,” he said.
