Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani Wednesday said that the government had decided in principle to implement its policy of issuing third generation mobile phone technology licenses during the current fiscal year. A cabinet committee had been constituted for formulation of policy to issue 3-G Services Mobile Telephone Licenses.
The prime minister expressed these views while talking to an editor of a local magazine. Gilani said that the ministry of information technology has been directed to speed up work on modernisation of the telecom sector for providing modern facilities to the common man.
He said that the government looks forward to suggestions from stakeholders as well as from the public to bring telecom sector of Pakistan at par with developed countries. He also appreciated media efforts for improving the IT and telecom services in Pakistan.
