Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani said on Tuesday that the primary focus of the government was the development of underdeveloped areas and bringing them at par with developed parts of the country.
Talking to Balochistan Chief Minister Nawab Muhammad Aslam Raisani, who called on him at Prime Minister’s House, Gilani said the government accorded special importance to Balochistan and as he had promised, the cabinet meeting was being called in Quetta next week.
This would be an expression of solidarity with the Baloch people and help reduce their sense of deprivation, he added. The prime minister said that all development schemes launched in Balochistan for public welfare would be completed on a priority basis. He asked Raisani about progress of work on the Kachi Canal, road infrastructure and dam projects.
He said priority should be accorded to ongoing projects where more than 50 percent of work had been completed. Raisani told the prime minister about the progress of projects initiated under the Aghaaz-e-Huqooq-e-Balochistan.
