A shutter down strike against Monday’s killing by police firing on a protest demonstration continued across Mianwali on Tuesday.
The administration had called in rangers troops to secure the city, while heavy police contingents were deployed at all entry and exit points of the city.
Punjab Finance Minister Kamran Michael on Tuesday visited Mianwali and announced departmental proceeding against the DPO and DCO over the killing. He said a judicial inquiry would be sought from the Lahore High Court. Kamran also announced compensation for the victims.
On the other hand, district administration and police officials have been suspended in this connection and the government lodged case of terrorism against 800 unidentified people.
