The CNG stations in the city remained closed for second day due to which people faced acute problems
Several motorists stopped their vehicles due to non-availability of gas and traveled through public transport. The owners of public transport made money by taking the opportunity through over charging. There was a great rush at bus and wagon stands. Many people could not reach their destinations in time.
The government issued orders to close CNG stations in Punjab for three days a week. The orders were implemented first time during current week. The CNG stations at Lahore, Sheikhupura, Sahiwal and Multan regions were shut down on 6:00 am in the Monday morning, which would be reopened on Thursday evening.
According to new policy gas is supplied to the powerhouses by saving it from CNG sector. By closing down CNG filling pumps in Lahore region 50 to 60 million cubic feet per day gas is saved which is supplied to two power houses located in the region, as the contract of two out of four powerhouses had been cancelled.
