As approved by the Punjab chief minister (CM), regularisation of 1800 senior doctors is being done by the Punjab Health Department on merit in line with the directives of the Lahore High Court on Tuesday.
The summary of regularisation of senior doctors was approved in 2009, as a result of which, senior registrars(SRs), assistant professors(APs) and district specialists working on contract basis were regularised while those working on current charge basis, adhoc, holding post graduate qualifications, were yet to be regularised.
The Punjab Health Department was now implementing the second part of the summary approved in 2009 by regularising the adhoc officials.
Young Doctors’ Association Pakistan office bearers Dr Rana Sohail, Dr Salman Kazmi, Dr Talha Sherwani condemned a few doctors who were apposing the regularisation and said that the YDA Pakistan would hold them accountable. They demanded the Punjab government complete the regularisation process on urgent basis and lauded the efforts of the Punjab Health secretary and the CM for taking practical steps in this regard.
