Presently, Home Department of the Sindh government in collaboration with the World Health Organisation (WHO) is celebrating “Decade of action for road safety – 2011-2020” and they have launched an advertisement campaign to print year-wise lists of those motorcyclists along with their names and ages who lost their precious lives for not wearing helmets.
During the last three years, a total of 1348 motorcyclists were killed. While visiting US, Canada and European countries, I noticed that fastening seat belts by persons sitting in front seats, including the drivers, is mandatory as this can save valuable lives in case of accidents.
I suggest the federal as well as all provincial governments to introduce law to make the use of safety seat belts mandatory.
