Nawaz did not take others into confidence: Haideri

Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) Secretary-General Maulana Abdul Gafoor Haideri Sunday said Nawaz Sharif should had taken into confidence all opposition parties before announcing the agenda for an opposition grand alliance. He also revealed that he received information about the meetings at the US Consulate in Quetta during which a decision to target some people had been made.
He was talking to journalists after attending a ceremony organised to honour of newly-elected cabinet of JUI-F lawyers’ forum. Responding a question, he said the formation of any alliance was dependent on the attitude of the PML-N leaders as they had not played their role during past three years, bolstering the chances of a strong opposition.
To a query, he said his party was not in favour of midterm elections and no one had the right to remove the government through unconstitutional means, adding that the JUI-F was in favour of the PPP government completing the five-year term. Responding to another question, Haideri said he was unaware of the presence of Quetta Shura or Mullah Umar. He also claimed that the Raymond Davis network and the Blackwater were hell-bent to destroy the country.
The JUI leader said the country was currently passing through a very difficult phase; therefore, all the parties should think about the country instead of their political ends. He regretted the series of incidents, like the Abbottabad raid, and terror strikes at PNS Mehran and Peshawar, saying it presented a gloomy picture of security institutions. He said law and order situation in the country was worsening as kidnapping for ransom and recovery of bullet-riddled bodies of Baloch missing persons had routine matters, adding that perhaps the institutions, which were supposed to provide security to the people, had been paralysed.
Haideri said the successive governments had been begging and seeking foreign loans over past 63 years. Pakistan, and particularly Balochistan, was rich in mineral resources but unfortunately no effort was made to exploit these assets, he rued the fact, adding that despite the passage of five years since the completion of Gwadar Port, it had been made functional yet.
