Interior Minister Rehman Malik on Sunday said terrorists were enemies of humanity and the world should join hands to eliminate this menace.
Addressing Saudi journalists and media personnel, Malik said terrorists and extremists had defamed Islam and termed them as non-Muslims. The minister said Pakistan had rendered many sacrifices in its operations against terrorism and the world had recognised it. He said Laden was dead and those who claim otherwise should come out with proofs. The minister said, “Pakistan always looks towards Saudi Arabia and considers it a uniting force for the entire Ummah.”
He appreciated the Saudi leadership for initiating the interfaith dialogue and harmony amongst cultures and religions. The minister said Pakistanis were playing a vital role in the development and prosperity of Saudi Arabia and Pakistan. He said steps have been taken to facilitate Pakistanis, residing in Saudi Arabia.
He lauded the Saudi leadership for assisting Pakistan in difficult times. Later, the interior Minister called on the Assistant Saudi Interior Minister Prince Muhammad bin Naif and discussed matters of mutual interest and ways to strengthen the existing fraternal relations between the two countries.
Rehman Malik apprised Prince Naif about the latest situation in the region and Pakistan’s efforts to curb extremism. He said relations between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia were time tested and beyond material considerations.
The minister said the Pakistani leadership and people had high regards for the custodian of the two holy mosques. He lauded the Saudi leadership and expressed gratitude for assisting Pakistan during hours of trail. Meanwhile, the Saudi assistant interior minister appreciated Pakistan’s role in the fight against terrorism.
