An international meeting is to be held in Tajikistan’s capital, Dushanbe on Tuesday to discuss Afghan problems, reports say.
The two day rountable is titled “Conflict and Peace Building in Afghanistan: State and Prospects”.
The meeting has been organised by the Peace and Accord Committee of Tajikistan, Regional Studies Centre of Afghanistan and the PolitKontakt Centre for Political Technologies, reports say.
Political figures and experts from Afghanistan, Tajikistan, Russia, Kazakhstan and Germany as well as diplomatic missions active in Tajikistan are expected to come together to discuss social, political and economic aspects of the conflict in Afghanistan.
The announcement has been made by Saifullah Safarov, deputy director of the Centre for Strategic Studies under the President of Tajikistan, during an interview with Asia-Plus.
Mr Safarov has said that those invited to the meeting include Ahmad Wali Massoud, the brother Ahmad Shah Massoud, commander Abdul Hadi Khalid, Afghan MP Latif Pedram as well as representatives from Russian and Kazakh Foreign Ministries.
“Peacekeeping and Peace-building in the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan: Seeking New Parameters” and “International Factors of the Afghan Conflict” are the two main themes to be discussed at the meet.
