Hackers took over a political Twitter feed belonging to the US broadcaster Fox News on Monday, announcing that President Barack Obama had been shot dead on America’s national day.
The fox news politics feed stated, “Barack Obama has just passed away as he has been hit by two bullets on the US National Day.”
The hackers who took over the Twitter account belonging to the Fox News, calling themselves ‘The Script Kiddies’ appeared to claim responsibility.
The Fox News Politics is one of the Twitter accounts associated with the industry-leading cable news network, the BBC said adding its Twitter account carries the “verified” tick icon, indicating that the feed belongs to the organisation it claims to be.
