Training workshops polish skills: UVAS VC

Training workshops always help polish skills and expertise of professionals, University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) Vice-Chancellor (VC) Dr Nawaz said on Friday. He was addressing a certificate distribution ceremony of a two-month training artificial insemination at the varsity’s conference hall.
The workshop was organised by Dean Faculty of Veterinary Sciences Dr Nasim Ahmed in collaboration with the Agha Khan Rural Support Progamme and sponsored by CESVI, an Italian non-governmental organisation (NGO). Institute of Continue Education & Extension Chairman Dr Aneela Zameer Durani and others were also present on the occasion.
Dr Nawaz hoped that young professionals had learnt the latest techniques, including animal heat detection programme and examination of pregnancy, to take care of livestock in a more effective way. Dr Nasim Ahmed explained that artificial insemination could bring a big change in improving milk and meat to enhance economic life.
He challenged a livestock worker, who had completed a two-month training, to execute his skills in areas such as Hunza, Skardu, Gilgit-Baltistan and Chitral. CESVI Project Manager Dr Marco Piccolo thanked the UVAS for providing an excellent training opportunity to a group of 15 para vet professionals and showed keen interest in future collaborations adding that good quality training was provided for the first time in Lahore. Afterwards, Dr Nawaz and Dr Nasim Ahmed distributed certificates among 15 livestock workers.
