A girl was killed and eight others, including three children, seriously injured in two different roof-collapse incidents, followed by heavy rain in different areas of the provincial metropolis on Friday.
In the first incident, a girl was killed and a boy received serious injuries when dilapidated roof of a house near Pakistan Model High School in Rana Town collapsed. Rescue 1122 workers rushed to the scene and recovered Amina, 10, and Ali, 3, children of Ghafoor from the debris. The injured were rushed to a nearby hospital where Amina was pronounced dead while Ali’s condition was said to be critical.
Separately, the dilapidated roof of a house near Dubai Town Stop on Raiwind Road collapsed because of heavy rain. The houses’ seven occupants were buried under the debris. Locals rushed to the scene and rescued them. The injured were identified as Basheer, 55, Naseem, 45, Humaira, 20, Naveed, 18, Aliza, 3, Kashif, 3 and Hifza, 6-month-old.
Rescue 1122 Emergency Squad reached the scene immediately, provided first aid to Aliza, Hifza and Kashif and shifted the rest to Jinnah Hospital.
