Australian envoy calls on Qaim

Former Department of Defence Secretary and Special Envoy of Australia for Pakistan and Afghanistan, Ric Smith called on Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah at Chief Minister’s House on Friday.
According to an official handout, the chief minister welcomed the Special Envoy, leading a three-member, and briefed him on the socio-economic conditions and the law and order situation of the province. Issues of mutual interest were discussed in detail as the Australian envoy told Qaim about special food prices and other matters related to import and export of main commodities.
Qaim apprised the Australian diplomat about the post-flood measures and process of rehabilitation and reconstruction of flood-affected areas of the province.
The chief minister also informed Smith about the developmental works and projects initiated and completed so far in the province. He told him about the achievements of the present government particularly in the field of agriculture, mines and mineral development, industry and other sectors. The leaders also discussed aspects of investments in various sectors in Sindh, particularly projects of processing of food items, fruit juices, fish, prawns, etc.
