Mirpurkhas Taluka Municipal Administrator Abdul Wahab Abbasi unveiled the tax-free surplus annual budget for the fiscal year 2011-12 on Thursday during the meeting of Mirpurkhas TMA. The total income of the Mirpurkhas TMA in expected at Rs 410.321 million with an opening balance of Rs 25.080 million. The revenue income is expected to stand at Rs 294.691 million while the capital income is expected at Rs 90.549 million.
The expected total expenses are estimated at Rs 409.334 million with Rs 127.353 million under the head of employees’ salaries; Rs 62.408 million for contingent expenses; Rs 5 million for construction and repair of TMA buildings; Rs 17.6 million for construction and repair surface drain; Rs 4 million for parks and playground rehabilitation; Rs 5 million for repair of water supply pipelines; Rs 7.5 million for development of Gulistan-e-Mustafa housing scheme; Rs 1 million for development of regularised Kachi Abadis; Rs 37.2 million for purchasing machinery; Rs 6.5 million for repair, maintenance and development; Rs 30.5 million for ongoing development schemes; Rs 3 million for paying government dues; Rs 17.35 million for disaster management and development through CCB; and Rs 20.1 million for maintenance of roads.
Abbasi stated that last year all dues of pension and gratuity had been paid to retired employees after reducing the unnecessary expenses totalling Rs 6.2 million. Various developmental schemes had been completed with special funds of Rs 6.2 million from Haq Parast MPA Faheem Ahmed Altafi and work on different developmental schemes was continuing with full speed.
He said that hardships were met during last year when the government was provided less than approved in the OZT share. He added that shortage of staff, due to ban on recruitment of staff, resulted in the failure to recover dues. “We are making efforts to reduce the civic problems of citizens and I appeal that citizens pay their dues including water tax so that TMA might be able to deliver more facilities to the masses.”
