Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif wanted to dissolve the provincial legislature, said an opposition leader in Provincial Assembly on Thursday. In a meeting with the British High Commission Envoy Peter Tabbar in Lahore, the opposition leader said that his party was not being allowed to play its role of opposition in Punjab Assembly. Briefing the reporters about his meeting with Tabbar, he said that the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) would foil any bid to dissolve the Punjab Assembly. He said the PPP was the most popular party in the country and its leadership knew how to protect peoples’ rights. He said the British envoy ensured full cooperation with the government in education and health sectors to promote literacy and provide healthcare to the people of Pakistan. Provincial representative for Punjab Governance Group Alastair King Smith was also present.
