Samir selected in Davis Cup squad


The Pakistan Tennis Federation has included young Samir Iftikhar in the Davis Cup team for the crucial tie against South Korea from July 8 to 10. Samir passed the fitness test and is among the top ranked players including Pakistan’s ace Aisamul Haq, Aqeel Khan and Yasir Khan and non playing Captain Mohd Khalid. Samir and 23 years old younger Yasir Khan, younger brother of Aqeel, make the team a blend of youth and experience. The PTF selected the same winning team which won against Hong Kong last February.
Samir is from the third generation of tennis family that started its supremacy in the game through Great Indo Pak Tennis Legend Khawaja Iftikhar Ahmed, who was followed by several Davis Cuppers including Aisam and now this youngster. The Iftikhar clan is currently dominating the Pakistan tennis as his grand daughter Ushna Sohail is current ladies champion. Samir was national junior champion 2010, and Faizan Khurram is current junior champion. Whereas Aisam is the top torch bearer of Pakistan at international arena and young Samir is following in his footsteps.
